Aside from the Grand Canyon, many other National Forests, Parks, Monuments, and Indian reservations are located in the state. Arizona is also known for its dessert landscape featuring the hot summers and mild winters.

The state capital is Phoenix, which is also the largest city in the state. The Phoenix metro area includes Mesa, Glendale, Peoria, Chandler, Sun City, Sun City West, Fountain Hills, Surprise, Gilbert, El Mirage, Avondale, Tempe and Scottsdale, with a total population of nearly 3.9 million.
